Powell Forestry aim to practice ‘Intelligent Forestry’ - a way of working that minimises the impact of harvesting operations.

We understand that harvesting operations cover only a fraction of time in the life of a managed wood.

The choice as to whether a tree is  cut and how it is removed can be critical to the woodland’s future.

Powell Forestry aim to practice ‘Intelligent Forestry’ - a way of working that minimises the impact of harvesting operations on the soils, plants, wildlife, and hydrology of the sites they work. Careful planning and attention to detail is essential for this to be achieved. It is hoped that our clients share this ambition for the long-term sustainability of their woods.

Our approach is to:

  • provide early payment through efficient working and rapid timber uplift to market

  • optimise timber value by grading material and sending it to multiple markets

  • improve our clients’ woodlands for nature, wildlife, and silviculture

  • strive for a minimal carbon footprint

The Road To Net Zero

As forestry professionals we are acutely aware of the challenges generated by climate change and the need to reduce our carbon footprint. At Powell Forestry these are the things we are already doing:

  • Switching to Tier 4 compliant forest machinery with Adblue diesel exhaust fluid

  • Operating paperless systems

  • Deploying adaptive working

  • Reducing mileage by conducting virtual meetings

  • Sourcing electricity from green energy suppliers

“we believe we can maximise the potential, health and longevity of our
clients’ woodlands.”
